Ripple Develops Feature for Stable Coins on XRP Ledger: Details
According to Ripple CTO David Schwartz, Ripple is developing a feature for stable coins on the XRP Ledger. The feature may allow users to make asset-supported tokens directly on the Ripple XRP Ledger. As David Schwartz noted, Ripple is working on “exciting” new features. They extend the XRP Ledger functionality and allow third-party users to enter coins into the XRP ecosystem.
Although Schwartz did not go into the details of what exactly the new features are, he said that they can be used to launch fixed-value tokens in XRP Ledger. As the representative of Ripple emphasized, stable coins are an obvious use case. But these are not just stable coins, but assets tied to some external value. David Schwartz indicated that asset-backed coins would have “guaranteed” liquidity due to the mechanics of the Ripple XRP Ledger.
It was previously known that Ripple, RAKBANK and BDO Unibank are joining together for remittances in the Philippines.
