Ripple Xpring Sponsored HackKU: Details
Ripple Xpring sponsored HackKU at the University of Kansas, where more than 280 student students participated and hosted the hackathon this weekend. Information regarding Ripple Xpring’s sponsorship of the University of Kansas Hackathon appeared on the Ripple Xpring official blog. It was indicated that the developers came together to solve problems by creating innovative projects in three different areas: training, financial technology and smart cities.
The University of Kansas is a Ripple partner with the UBRI University Initiative and also works with the XRP Ledger validator. Therefore, the Ripple Xpring team was interested to know what projects will be presented at the HackKU hackathon. In total, five development teams submitted projects for the “Best Use of Ripple Xpring” contest. The blog notes that it was extremely difficult to choose a winner. Each team had great ideas. Most were able to fully fulfill their plans using Ripple Xpring. One was even able to link the demonstration using hardware and software.
The winning Xtack team impressed Ripple Xpring with its test code. Representatives of Ripple Xpring explained that, as the creators of distributed systems and payment networks, they spend a lot of time writing and reading test code, so it was nice to see that the HackKU hackathon development team at the University of Kansas decided to spend 36 hours doing the same thing. Xtack used the Xpring SDK and Ripple XRP to create an incentive platform that allows users to send questions and get answers faster.
Ripple Xpring particularly liked their creative idea of using Escrow, while the answer was approved by the questioner. Xtack also created a way for users to search for answers to questions based on criteria such as: recent, reward value, or response status. As frequent users of StackOverflow and Quora, representatives of Ripple Xpring thought it was an interesting way to get answers to questions faster.
